The EDD are organized by DG-DevCo and aim to bring together ideas and bring together development partners in order to influence decision-makers and EC programs on solutions, initiatives and impact devices. Where and how should the EC invest in priority to achieve maximum impact? This year, the central themes for assessing these impacts are:
1. Investing in people and the planet
2. Investing in the factors of prosperity
3. Investing in the factors of peace and partnership
Within each of these themes, and in a transversal way as well, some more key words are given: young people and women are the priorities of theme 1; job creation and digitalisation are the priorities of theme 2; the participatory approach of the private sector in particular is the priority of theme 3.
The EDD gather more than 6,000 participants (in 2016) over 2 days, divided into plenary debates (auditorium with 540 seats) or restricted ones (70 seats), project presentations (70 seats) or brainstorming workshops (40 seats). A global village will host a large number of booths designed to present dynamically and an animated way various development projects. In 2017, the EDD will be hosting an additional session, an EU-Africa Business Forum to prepare for the Africa-European Union summit in Abidjan in November 2017. Registration is available online (click here).
PAEPARD can take the opportunity of these days to give a spotlight on its results and the achievements of its partnerships (e.g. invite some young entrepreneurs), but also to propose an approach in collaboration with other initiatives of platform and systems of innovation in agriculture. Finally, these days could offer PAEPARD, which will end in December 2017, the occasion of a final European event, with the organization in parallel of strategic meetings on the post-PAEPARD.
